The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored actress Kerry Washington with the 2,796th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. The honorary ceremony took place on Dec. 2, 2024, and Washington was recognized for her accolades in the television category.

Recognizing and honoring talented, prominent individuals in the art and entertainment industry is the focal point of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Washington is a renowned actress, director and producer best known for her roles in the television series Scandal, the 2024 movie Six Triple Eight, the Fantastic Four film series, Ray, American Son and many others.

Accolades and accomplishing major milestones are no strangers to Washington. Her unique versatility and impeccable talent earned her several nominations and awards at The Primetime Emmy Awards, NAACP Image Awards, GLAAD Media Awards and BET Awards.

She also received nominations for the Golden Globes, Satellite Awards, MTV Movie and TV Awards and Film Independent Awards, along with other nominations.

Acting isn’t the only talent of Washington; she is a multi-faceted professional, also recognized for her diverse background working in advocacy, theatre, film, and production. Her passion for production resulted in her launching a company named Simpson Street in 2016.

Simpson Street is dedicated to fostering innovation and cultivating a more inclusive and equitable entrepreneurial landscape. The company primarily focuses on developing and distributing projects in broadcast, digital, and other media.

Aside from running a production company, acting, directing, or using her voice to fight for injustices as an activist, Washington is also a dedicated wife and mother. She is married to former professional athlete and actor Nnamdi Asomugha, and they share two children.

Earning a Hollywood Walk of Fame star is legendary, and Washington continues her legacy by launching new projects and using her voice to advocate for changes in society and politics.

Shining in Tyler Perry’s latest production of The Six Triple Eight is Washington’s latest project. The distinguished actress played the lead as Major Charity Adams, leader of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion during World War II.

The Six Triple Eight consisted of 855 women who worked together to fix the three-year backlog of undelivered mail. The heroic women faced adversities and discrimination but worked to overcome and sort over 17 million pieces of mail.

The film is now streaming on Netflix and has received four wins and 11 nominations, including an Academy Award nomination, five NAACP Image nominations, the Black Reel Awards and many more.
