Kendrick Lamar & SZA, a Powerful Pair, Deliver an Electrifying Start to the “Grand National Tour”

MINNEAPOLIS—Kendrick Lamar and SZA kicked off their “Grand National Tour” with a record-breaking performance at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, pulling in more than $9.1 million in revenue and selling out all 47,354 seats, according to Touring Data.

The opening night marks a historic moment for hip-hop, with Lamar becoming the first rapper to gross over $9 million from a single concert as a headliner or co-headliner. The show also stands as the most-attended concert of both artists’ careers.

More than a financial feat, the performance spotlighted the duo’s unmatched cultural influence and the growing demand for large-scale hip-hop shows. Lamar’s commanding lyricism and stage presence, paired with SZA’s soulful, genre-bending sound, made for a powerful combination that set the tone for the rest of the tour.
