Sheryl Lee Ralph honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
Sheryl Lee Ralph honored with the 2,808th Hollywood Walk of Fame Star: Her legacy in television, film, theater and advocacy will live on.
A Legacy Carved Now in Stone—The moment has finally arrived, and it’s long overdue. On April 16, Sheryl Lee Ralph was honored with the 2,808th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a recognition that not only celebrates her decades of work in television but also affirms her rightful place in the pantheon of Black excellence.
From Broadway to primetime, Ralph has shown us the blueprint and how it’s done for over 40 years, gracefully, unapologetically and with unmatched talent.
Whether she’s playing the poised and powerful Barbara Howard on Abbott Elementary or blessing us with her unforgettable run as Deena in Dreamgirls, Ralph has always represented the kind of Black womanhood that radiates strength, dignity and legacy.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, and raised between Jamaica and New York, Ralph’s story is deeply rooted in diaspora brilliance.
At just 19, she became the youngest woman to graduate from Rutgers University. That same year, Glamour named her one of America’s Top 10 College Women, and she was awarded the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship by the Kennedy Center. She’s been breaking barriers ever since.
The Walk of Fame ceremony was nothing short of a celebration of sisterhood, legacy and community.
Hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner, the event featured tributes from Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson and the legendary Loretta Devine. Her beloved Delta Sigma Theta Sorors were also present to celebrate her flowers-in-real-time moment.
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Jerry Neuman opened the ceremony with heartfelt praise, calling Ralph “a triple threat” and thanking her for “what she does for the industry.”
Sheryl Lee Ralph isn’t just a star on the boulevard—she’s a light that’s been guiding generations. And now, the world can look down and see what we’ve always known: her place among legends is permanent.
