Lizzen has a clear vision for the legacy she wants to leave: one defined by determination, humility and relentless pursuit of her goals.
When asked what word she hopes people associate with her, she did not settle for one. She instead offered three: “strong-willed, humble and a go-getter.”
From performing in choirs as a young child to charting on Billboard’s Hip-Hop/R&B Airplay charts, Lizzen has long believed that music is both a reflection of life and a way to leave a lasting impact.
Roots in Music
Lizzen began singing at age five and found early inspiration in shows like “Making The Band,” which pushed her to write songs and choreograph dances. By age 12, songwriting had become her outlet, a way to process life, express emotion and share stories both hers and those of people around her.
Though she released her first studio single in 2018, it was years of growth and community support that gave her the confidence to fully commit to a music career.
Music as Therapy, Authenticity as Trademark
For the powerful singer, music is more than melody. It is therapy and truth. She draws on real-life relationships, struggles and the shared human experience to create songs that resonate.
“What you hear is the real deal,” she has shared, noting that she does not rely on auto-tune. That rawness, she believes, makes her work meaningful and enduring.
Her breakout single, “Why,” earned millions of streams, reached the Top 30 on U.S. urban radio and charted on Billboard’s Hip-Hop/R&B Airplay charts. The “Why Remix,” featuring Robin Thicke, went viral on social media this year, further expanding her reach.
Her 2024 debut album, On The Bus, including a remix of “Right and Wrong” with R&B singer Keith Sweat, reached No. 2 on the iTunes R&B chart.
Legacy: More Than Hits, It’s Character
For Lizzen, success is not just about sales and streams. It is about leaving something real behind. In a recent conversation, she reflected on how legacy is built not just through achievement, but through integrity and leadership.
Her vision of legacy hinges on perseverance and humility, qualities that resonate in her music and in her life. As she continues to rise in R&B, her story remains rooted in authenticity, intention and heart.
What’s Next: A Climb With Purpose
Despite her growing success, Lizzen says she is still in the early chapters of her career. She does not plan to slow down. With fan support, radio traction and viral buzz, she is aiming for more than chart placement. She is aiming to leave a mark.
She wants listeners to hear not just songs, but stories; not just voices, but sincerity. In that, Lizzen hopes the legacy words she chose will endure long after the music stops playing.
