That’s a Wrap: Bel-Air Wraps Production on Fourth and Final Season, Honoring the Legacy of a Classic
Production has officially wrapped on the fourth and final season of Bel-Air, Peacock’s dramatic reimagining of the beloved 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Since its debut in 2022, Bel-Air has carved out its own identity while paying homage to the legacy of the original series, which redefined Black culture and television comedy in its era. By blending nostalgia with fresh, modern storytelling, the reimagined drama paved a new path for fans old and new to connect with the Banks family.
The series quickly became a social media sensation, with audiences buzzing over its unpredictable twists, jaw-dropping storylines and bold reimagining of the classic characters. Executive produced by Will Smith, the show was inspired by filmmaker Morgan Cooper’s viral fan trailer that re-envisioned the sitcom as a drama.
The cast features a new generation of rising stars, including Jabari Banks as Will Smith, Adrian Holmes as Philip Banks, Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks and Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks.
R&B artist Coco Jones, who brought Hilary Banks to life, bid farewell to her character in an emotional social media post featuring a photo of her holding the show’s clapboard.
“An ending and a new beginning,” Jones wrote. “Hilary, I loved playing you, girl, (and wearing all those fire ass fits). I will truly miss this cast, crew, and the chemistry we had on screen. Such a blessing to be a part of this show for 4 YEARS wattt??”
While Bel-Air has been a strong performer for Peacock, the decision to conclude the series after its fourth season was made following conversations about budget, along with key cast members preparing to embark on new projects.
Season 3’s finale aired in September 2024, and Peacock announced the season 4 renewal that December. An official premiere date has not yet been set, though the final season is expected to debut in late 2025 or early 2026.
As Bel-Air prepares its last chapter, it closes a meaningful loop: a show born from the legacy of The Fresh Prince now leaves its own mark on television, proving that some stories evolve, but their impact never fades.
