The beaming lights, thunderous sounds and the exhilarating feeling of walking on stage in front of thousands of people are enough to make the average person shy away from the spotlight, but this wasn’t the case for lyricist and R&B singer-songwriter Sherrionn.

She knew performing and being on stage was her calling.

Her journey started at a young age in the bustling city of Chicago, a major city known for its food, architecture, cultural festivals and soulful music scene.

“I got started in music, honestly, since I was born. My first memory was in kindergarten when my kindergarten teacher would play all the oldies during nap time,” Sherrionn said. “I remember her playing Bobby Caldwell, Motion and all the real and pure R&B oldies, and that’s where I got my knowledge of R&B.”

The singer began her journey to stardom after receiving musical instruments and toys to practice her vocals.

“I remember getting my first karaoke machine and singing Aaliyah, Faith Evans and Mary J. Blige. My family then started having me sing at every event,” Sherrionn said.

Some of her earliest memories of taking an interest in music include singing Erykah Badu songs with her brother while he beatboxed on a toy box.

Continuing to pursue her passion by participating in every opportunity to practice her craft became second nature as she joined the show choir throughout middle and high school. Her dedication to her art continued after graduation when she embarked on new performance opportunities in college.

“I joined show choir in 6th grade, all the way through high school, and then in college, I started doing dance team, Apollo competitions and I took it from there and started recording my own music,” she said.

Her hard work and determination began to pay off. She later won first place at a national solo competition in Nashville and became part of Donda’s House, a nonprofit co-founded by Rhymefest. The program provided her with opportunities to deepen her artistry and gain performance experience across Chicago’s creative circuit.

Sherrionn describes herself as a natural performer who has always felt she was chosen for the music industry. Along with being a singer and songwriter, she is also a passionate audio engineer with a gift for blending soul, stories and pure emotion into her sound.

The musician comes from a naturally musically inclined family, so music truly is embedded in her DNA. Her mother was a vocalist and dancer, and her father is a signed rapper. But despite her family’s musical background, Sherrionn credits her passion to something deeper within herself.

“I won’t go too deep into it this early in my career, but I will say I didn’t grow up with my birth parents, so their career and whatever they were doing had no influence on my calling and what I’m doing now,” she said. “It was always embedded inside my spirit, but I didn’t know that it came from them until I matured and figured out my family history.”

These experiences have shaped her into the person she is today. She also noted that her passion for music came from her exposure and influences as a child.

“I was the black sheep, the oddball; I was the only one in my family that I knew of that did music. So, it really was the music I listened to as a child that influenced me to continue,” she said.

In 2016, Sherrionn began writing and producing her own music. She taught herself how to record and mix and earned a degree in Audio Engineering and Recording Arts from Tribeca Flashpoint, now known as Columbia College.

Finding her own sound and style is an essential part of her image as an artist, so she spent extended periods of time figuring out what felt natural to her.

“I’m in a phase where I shut out all influence in the world in the general, and I’m more tapped into me and my personality. I’m putting more of my personality and my real life experiences into my music.”

After years of refining her craft, Sherrionn has grown a loyal and committed fan base. Her covers, remixes and vibrant online presence have earned her reposts and recognition from major artists and producers who appreciate her creativity and distinctive tone.

After leaving Chicago and venturing to Atlanta, she expanded her reach by immersing herself in new sounds and cultural experiences. The experience allowed her to grow as both an artist and individual, pushing her to explore new layers of her musical identity.

When she returned to Chicago in 2025, she brought back a mature sound and a renewed focus on the next chapter of her career.

Staying focused and devoted to her craft remains one of Sherrionn’s defining traits. She often sacrifices leisure to stay consistent with her goals and creative growth.

“I’m going to sound boring right now, but I spent most of the summer locked in. I was not on the beach, I was not on a rooftop, I was locked in doing content and music, so I skipped the summer,” she said.

With an angelic voice that commands attention and lyrics rooted in truth, Sherrionn continues to carve her own lane as an independent powerhouse. Her fan base and music sales continue to rise as she builds her name both in front of the microphone and behind the soundboard.

As cuddle season swiftly approaches, so does the new music that will fall into the laps of fans like the leaves currently falling from the trees.

“I’m going to give you the exclusive. I might or might not be working on a mixtape for the upcoming cuddle season,” Sherrionn said. “I’m locked in on that, and I’ll have plenty of content for you guys. I’m working right now, so tune in.”
