The program is giving groceries and Thanksgiving necessities to underprivileged homes with the goal of feeding 1,000 NYCHA families.

Anthony Anderson Returns Home

Through his Harvest of Hope Event in Compton, Calif., this past weekend, actor Anthony Anderson contributed to the season's spirit of service on the West Coast. Anderson has consistently stated that he is "just a kid from Compton," showing his pride in his hometown.

He went back home this year to give back to the neighborhood that helped mold him. Anderson reflected on his own background on ABC7, saying that his family used to depend on holiday help, so it is very meaningful to be able to support others now.

His Harvest of Hope event, which was supported by neighborhood partners, gave food, resources and support to families around Compton, demonstrating how giving back frequently comes full circle.

These celebrities are converting the holiday season nationwide into a movement of collective care rather than just a time for celebration. Their initiatives demonstrate how public influence can be utilized to spread happiness, meet community needs and spur long-lasting change, whether it is through food distribution, gift-giving or the creation of empowerment spaces. The holiday season becomes more important for those who donate, as well as brighter for those who receive it, as more entertainers embrace philanthropy.
