Mariah the Scientist Announces New Album, ‘HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY,’ Continuing a Legacy of Vulnerability and Vision.

Mariah the Scientist is ready to set the tone for late summer with her highly anticipated new album, HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY, set to release Aug. 22.

The Atlanta-born R&B artist, whose real name is Mariah Buckles, has steadily carved out a space in music that’s equal parts bold, intimate and experimental. With the success of her latest single “Burning Blue,” which debuted at No. 2 on Apple Music’s U.S. chart, Buckles is proving that her influence is not only growing but lasting.

Known for her raw, often melancholic take on love and heartbreak, Mariah is building a catalog that resonates with a generation of listeners seeking vulnerability in sound. Her upcoming project signals the next chapter in what is shaping up to be a long-lasting legacy of emotional storytelling through music.

In a cryptic Instagram post that captured fans’ attention, Mariah shared an image of a toy green soldier standing on a pink carpet, followed by an image of the same figure broken into pieces.

Above the dismembered toy, a blurred tracklist was displayed. The caption read: “HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY… 08/22.”

“Burning Blue,” her first single off the upcoming album, is already setting the tone. With melancholic melodies, the track is an introspective anthem that explores emotional distance and silent suffering in relationships.

It's a strong indicator that HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY will build on the deeply personal themes her fan base has come to expect.

Buckles’ last album, To Be Eaten Alive, marked a career milestone. Not only did it become her first project to debut on the Billboard 200 chart, but it also featured major collaborations with artists such as 21 Savage and Young Thug.

The album cemented her presence in the mainstream while staying true to her unconventional style.

As Mariah evolves musically, so does her impact on the culture. With each project, she’s laying the groundwork for a legacy that prioritizes storytelling, emotional complexity and artistic risk, all while giving voice to the modern Black woman’s experience in love, heartbreak and healing.

With HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY, Mariah the Scientist isn’t just dropping another album, she’s continuing a legacy of honesty, heartbreak and sonic innovation.
